Shindig Music

Providing music solutions for weddings, functions and corporate events.

Welcome King Candy & The sugar Push to your stage and be transported back to America's golden age of swing. Add a dash of contempory humour and lashings of finely crafted musicianship and you've a recipe for enjoyment. Move your feet as the musicians knock out a serving of big band hits and feast your ears on the bitter-sweet tales of love and loss from our glamorous chanteuse.

Just mentioning their name can be quite a mouthful but, boy does it taste good! As we like to say, "Singin' it for dancin' feet!"

King Candy & The Sugar Push have quickly made a name for themselves (albeit a long one) as one of the UK's top retro acts playing beautifully crafted arrangements of American swing music. They repeatedly sell-out respected venues like Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and regularly perform at swing-dancing clubs and events around London.

Line-up: 9-piece band (Vocalist, 4 brass and 4 rhythm section) and optional 4-member 'lindyhop' dance troupe.

Repertoire: We play high energy music from the American big band scene, predominantly from the 30's and 40's associated with the Harlem lindyhop (dance) culture that grew alongside it. These bands were run by enigmatic band-leaders like Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Cab Calloway, Gene Krupa, Woody Herman, Jimmy Lunceford, Artie Shaw, Count Basie and of course, Duke Ellington. Unlike most other 'swing' bands we shy away from the 'Rat Pack' style ballroom music of the 1950s. You won't find any Frank Sinatra or Bobby Darin in our pad I'm afraid!

What people say...

Definitely a band to tap your feet to! Such a lively, entertaining performance by King Candy And The Sugar Push at Ronnie Scotts. Great music, witty banter and lovely frocks (on the singer!)... an experience we look forward to repeating.

King Candy And The Sugar Push are fantastic, they got everyone dancing and played two really solid sets, we feel very lucky to have had them play for us.
